Romantic movies are timeless. Everyone has their favorite movie. For the most part, the romance films serve a purpose, mostly, as escapism. One thing these films do is that they keep the idea of romance alive. No matter how happy or tragic the end is, romance movies love viewers to entertain them and keep their dream alive.
It begs a question .. what makes a great romance movie? There are some actors and actresses who are good for romantic movies and others who do not. There are some stories that are simply remarkable and there are some stories that make you wonder who did it first. I think there are at least four criteria for a fantastic romantic movie
1. The likelihood of leaders
First and foremost, the lead in the movie must be & # 39; like & # 39; which means that the target audience loves them and thinks they are lovers or can be lovers in real life. Which means they have to have chemistry between them. When chemistry is there, it makes interactions in the film equal and credible. And it's important for the audience to like the leads for them to & # 39; few & # 39; film.
This factor made Meg Ryan, the romantic comedy queen of the late 80's / early 90's. Her two great performances in & # 39; When Harry Meet Sally & # 39; and & # 39; Sleepless In Seattle & # 39; s pair of two great leading men, Billy Crystal and Tom Hanks, was a great tour force. In both films, she clicked & # 39; with both, giving the films critical and commercial success.
2. Simple and clear story
Another important criterion is history. It must be simple and clear so that the viewer can understand what is going on in the film, which means who the parties are in love and what is the situation. Romantic movies are not good reasons to do plot twists because it will turn off the viewers because it will disturb the viewers' enjoyment of the romance. An example of a good story was the film adaptation of Jane Austen & # 39; s Pride and Prejudice, 2005. The film did an excellent job of portraying the romance of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Darcy and showed & # 39; game & # 39; ; who both played with each other until they eventually fell in love in the end.
3. Movie location / background
The role of the film's location and background is to support and enhance the romance film. It's not that important, but it does matter. The background refers to the cast that surrounds the joints, such as family members or offices. The movie site refers to where the movie is located. Usually, it is the movie sites that spice up the romance. A good example of the movie background is the actor for four weddings and a funeral. In the film, Charles & # 39; set of eclectic friends complemented his & # 39; adventure & # 39; is pursuing Carrie. A good example of the movie scene was Venice and Positano in Only You, with Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey, where it made the romance of the movie magical, with lovely scene scenes, Italian languages and songs.
4. Excellent Movie Song / Soundtrack
And finally, the killer criteria would be the song or soundtrack in the movie, as it enhances and reminds the viewer of the romance movie experience. Usually it would be a pop song sung by the popular artist and it would be a top-notch. An obvious example would be the song "My Heart Will Go On" sung by Celine Dion from the movie Titanic. The song acts as a killer hook that drives the success of the film and helps the commercial success of the film's soundtrack and the film itself. In the film, the song is usually shown either as a short music clip or becomes an instrumental background.
Those are the four criteria that I think is a fantastic romance movie. There may be others, but these are the four main criteria and when all four criteria are shown in a romantic movie, it is almost certain that the film will be a commercial and critical hit.
